A bit of history
Island Foghorns #1109 received its charter in 1999 from Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization with a worldwide network of public speaking clubs in 90 countries. Our club has earned many Distinguished Club awards each year since it was chartered including -2009. .
Guests are always welcome at our meetings. We are a community (open) club versus a closed- corporate type . Our members hail from all segments of the community including corporate and local businesses, military and government employees. All have one common goal- to become more confident public speakers and leaders to improve their careers.
Yearly membership fees are very moderate - less than $100.00 and include TM International and local dues, a year's subscription to Toastmasters magazine, two training manuals plus many free or low cost public speaking workshops and conferences. Some companies may offer their employees reimbursement for club dues and/or incentives for attendance at conferences as part of their corporate training budget. Some expenses may be tax deductible as an educational expense. Your membership and record of your awards and completed speeches can be transferred to your new club if you move .
Island Foghorns meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at the Middletown Library, at 5:30-6:30 PM. Meetings last for 1 hour. Please plan to arrive a little early for our "meet & greet" time and to receive your free guest packet.
